Electives Offered within the regular part of the school day.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION: (4 Months to First Grade)
Our P.E. classes are instructed by well-trained coaches from Stretch-N-Grow and follow the guidelines of the Aerobic & Fitness Association of America, The American Council on Exercise, the American College of Sports Medicine, and the American Academy of Pediatrics. They proved exercises that have been designed for children’s ever changing development and emphasize large motor skills, coordination, balance, resistance, flexibility, and aerobic activity coupled with nutrition awareness. www.stretch-n-grow.com

MUSIC: (4 Months to First Grade)
CDSA utilizes Sheila’s Musical Expressions, LLC. www.smemusic.net Classes are designed to be multi-sensory, providing a positive, non- threatening learning environment where children can freely express their ideas and achieve mastery in music. Research shows that music improves children’s memory, cognitive development, learning skills, and the ability to express emotion. Parents receive take home newsletters. Age appropriate instruments are introduced regularly.

SPANISH: Transitional, Kindergarten & First Grade Students (2.5 years old – 6 years old) Conversational Spanish is presented to students each week. The children are introduced to colors, numbers, basi vocabulary words that follow our monthly Year at a Glance themes, holidays, cultural events and traditions, and vocabulary necessary for basic conversation.

Literature/Story time with Barefoot Books Ambassador:
•Toddler, Transitional, Primary, Kindergarten & First Grade Students (2 years old – 6 years old)
•Barefoot Books has an array of creative beautiful books that celebrate diversity, spark curiosity and capture children’s imaginations.
•Stories come alive through this elective as we want to foster children's interest in reading, touching and handling books with enthusiasm.
